I am on a traveling basketball team. We've come down to the final game. It's the day of the game and we are biding our time in the town Plaza, hanging out.
I start to levitate. I've done this often before, but never over a crowd of people. But strangely, nobody notices. Why aren't they noticing I wonder?
I start to think about all I could do with this power, but all I do do is cruise around and look down at the people. It's boring after a while, I think. And kind of lonely. What's the point? I could use it for some good I suppose, but I don't.
I come down and approach a stranger and ask him if he saw me levitate. He says, no, that's impossible. I try to levitate to show him, but I no longer can. I've ruined it, I think.
Meanwhile, the final game has started. I am watching from the sidelines. My friend Eddie Berrigan is in the game. The game is a nail-biter. The steaks are very high. Not only is it the championship, but there has been rivalry with this team all season, and it's personal.
We are down by two points and the clock is running out. I wish I could still levitate so I can help them.
But there's no need because at the buzzer our team makes a three-pointer at half court. Crowd goes wild.
Afterwards, at the celebration, I congratulate Eddie, but he doesn't seem happy. Why, I ask. Something is off, he said. Maybe, I say, but we won, you might as well enjoy it. He walks off.
I see his brother, Anselm. I walk up and tell him that Eddie seems upset. All season long we've worked for this and now he can't even enjoy it. Yeah, says Anselm. I don't know.
Suddenly, it dawns on me. I know why, I tell him. It's because this is a movie. We're in a movie. There's always a twist at the end of a movie.
Then I see a girl that Anselm likes, and I point her out to him. He leaves and goes to her. I wake up.
